HUGHES, John Stuart (1858-1920)

Born 25 April 1858 at Eccles House, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England, the second son of Daniel Hughes, paper manufacturer, and his wife Millie, nee Gordon. He married on 31 October 1885 at the Wesleyan Church, Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia to Laliah M. Matthews, daughter of John Matthews, joiner, and his wife Nancy. Manager of the Charleston Pulp Mill, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada from c1891 to 1893 and the Milton Pulp Mill, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada from 1893 to c1907. Died on 10 January 1920 at 137 Kennedy Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Buried 13 January 1920 at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
